The Hindu : News / National : Proposed 2G special court may take up Swamy's plaint

With the Supreme Court directing setting up of a special court to hear all cases related to the 2G spectrum scam, a Tis Hazari court here on Thursday referred Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy's complaint to the District Judge-I.

“The District Judge-I is requested to kindly entrust the complaint file to the court so constituted. The complainant,

Dr. Swamy, should appear before the District Judge on March 25,” Special Judge (Central Bureau of Investigation) Pradeep Chaddah said.

375-page complaint

In his 375-page complaint filed on December 15 last, Dr. Swamy had sought prosecution of the former Union Telecom Minister, A. Raja, and his (Dr. Swamy's) appointment as public prosecutor under Section 5(3) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

After observing on January 7 that the complaint was “maintainable,” Mr. Chaddah had on January 22 summoned the Comptroller and Auditor General of India to appear before his court on February 5 as a witness.

The CBI finally acted on its FIR filed on October 21, 2009, against “unknown persons” in the 2G scam by arresting Mr. Raja on February 2.

On February 5, Mr. Chaddah stayed further proceedings on Dr. Swamy's complaint taking cognisance of the CBI investigation.
