Salutes to Sehgal
It is after a long gap, the son of soil Kundan Lal Sehgal was remembered by the people here. The Academy of Arts, Culture and Languages has organized a programme yesterday remembering the legend.
A few years back, Raghunath Bazaar Association, lead by its president Mr. Baldev Khullar had launched an audio cassette in which choicest songs of the late Sehgal were played on the occasion of celebration of 150th anniversary of Raghunath Bazar.
The late K L Sehgal was born on April 4, 1904 at Mastgarh Jammu. His father Amarchand was associated with the court of Maharaja Pratap Singh. He had his education in the Sri Ranbir High School and later in Prince of Wales College (GGM Science College).
Later he left Jammu to earn his livelihood. During his various assignments he landed at Kolkotta where he got his break as a singer as well as an actor. He died in 1948 at the age of 44.
The K L Sehgal hall of the Cultural academy is a befitting tribute to the singer who enthralled the world of music.
