Documented evidences;
1. This is about Sri Raghavendraswamy, whose MUTT is situated in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh.
- Deewan Venkanna (the court administrator) of Nawas Soodi Masood Khan, the Nawad of Adoni, was a devotee of Raghavendra.(Even to-day you can find the well dug by him in Adoni-Venkanna Baavi(Venkanna’s well)
- When the saint visited Adoni-the Nawab wanted to prove Sri Venkanna wrong, and has offered pieces of meat in a plate covered with silk cloth, as prashad after pooja. Venkanna and other court ppl were aware of this, but could not open their mouth, as Nawab was personally present there.
- After Pooja to the idols(lord Rama , Laxman, Sita etc.,) the saint sprinkled holy water on the plate and the covering cloth was taken off. To the surprise and disbelief of the gathering, what was found was flowers, and sugar candy.
- With this the Nawab was shocked-and paid obeisance to the saint, and offered so much of money, lands etc etc., wherein the saint said that he will be happy if the Nawab could give the village Manchala(now known as Mantralayam).
- The Nawab was again taken aback, not understanding why the saint has asked for a useless hamlet on the banks of Tungabhadra River-compared to the riches offered, and on the continued insistence of the saint only for this small non-descript piece of land-gave it with royal orders.
