New Delhi:

As a diplomatic row played out between New Delhi and Beijing over the latter’s refusal to allow Northern Army Commander Lt Gen. B S Jaswal to visit China, the People’s Daily, mouthpiece of the Chinese Communist Party, put up for discussion and voting in the ‘People Forum’ section of its website an article with the headline, “How likely is China’s launch of a limited war against India?”
The article was a portion of an article published in the latest issue of Forbes India, titled ‘Seven Security Nightmares India Must Prepare For’. This portion of the Forbes article dealt with a scenario where China encircles India and launches a limited war.

Till late Sunday evening, the question asked by People’s Daily had got 23 ‘thumbs ups’ and 22 ‘thumbs downs’. Interestingly, this piece was followed by one titled “China-Pakistan ‘all-weather friendship’ withstands ordeals”, which was put up on the website today.

Appearing at the end of the extract from Forbes were three highlighted (in blue) paragraphs that said Chinese experts feel the neighbours have a lot in common despite “disputed bilateral issues”. “For example, China and India adopted the same stance... in the Copenhagen Climate Conference.”

The highlighted portion also said, “Western media like to exaggerate conflicts between China and India. Only when the west see the two countries in conflicts, it will feel at ease.”

The portion on China in the Forbes piece described how Beijing talks of peace at the strategic level while keeping up the heat on the tactical level by making territorial claims on Arunachal Pradesh followed by intrusions.

The piece also highlighted how China was acquiring port facilities around India, and how India’s insecurity could get enhanced once China establishes its naval presence in the Indian Ocean by around the year 2015.

It is quite obivious for a lay man to see the chinese design in Jammu and Kashmir. The build up of massive infrastructre in POK areas including the roads, rails and air strips and occasional pin pricking in Ladakh by intrusion of red army is indicative in this direction. On the contrary the Indian govt is keeping a silence over the matter and is to Kashmir centric to appease the septreatist who are dancing to the tune of Pakistan and China in the background. The govt of India is commiting blunders one by one right from the day one of Indian merger of Jammu and Kashmir by Maharaja of J&K. They went to UN after a unilateral cease fire on first of Jan 1949 when pak army was fleeing only to install a kashmir Seikh Mond Abdullha a potrege of Nehre. 20 lac POK refugee are still in camps and are told to be repatriated to POK. HOW? China will attack India and it is reality to capture Arunachal by intimidation. Siot Sunderbani Jammu.
